LAY ACCOMPANIMENT

113. Although priestly formation necessarily includes agents of formation who must be priests, it is essential that a seminarian’s forma tion be truly ecclesial through the formal participation of lay members of the seminary community. The laity, particularly women, offer insightful recommendations, opinions, and points of view to the rector and commu nity of formators. In addition, families and other communities within the Church are an integral part of the initial stages of formation.
