This Guide is meant to encourage priests to reflect on their life and ministry and formulate an individualized plan of formation in light of the current realities in the life of priests, society, and the Church. We encourage using this text in the context of dialogue with laity, brother priests and their bishops. On behalf of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations, I extend my deepest gratitude to all those individuals who contributed to this project over the last three years. May Mary, the Mother of God and Queen of Apostles, and St. John Vianney, patron saint of priests, intercede for all priests so that they may continue to conform their lives to the image of Christ, the Good Shepherd in service to the Gospel.
